AHS Student Elected to State DECA Office

Alexander High School is proud to announce the election of Kaden Vanwey to the position of VP of Finance of Georgia DECA. Kaden was elected at the 2017 State Career Development Conference in Atlanta, GA on February 16-18, 2017.

Kaden, a sophomore at Alexander High School, will serve on DECA’s Executive Officer Team for the 2017-2018 school year. Conference planning and management responsibilities are one of the primary roles of an Executive Officer. Kaden will assist with the operation of the Georgia DECA Fall Rally in October 2017, Fall Leadership Development Conference in October 2017, the Regional Career Development Conference in December 2017, and the Georgia DECA State Career Development Conference held February 2018.

Kaden is enrolled in the Marketing Education Program at Alexander. This program provides skills that allow students to prepare themselves for careers. DECA is the only international organization specifically designed to reinforce the occupational competencies of high school students who wish to pursue a career in marketing, merchandising or management. Over 219,000 students from the United States, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands are involved in this organization.

Kaden is the son of Kim and Keith Vanwey In addition to DECA, he is an active member at the Church at Chapel Hill and is a member of the swim and tennis teams at Alexander High School. Business and marketing teacher Melissa Claiborne serves as advisor for DECA at Alexander.
