Congratulations to Eastside Elementary for recently being named one of 92 schools in the country with an outstanding music education program. Eastside received the SupportMusic Merit Award (SMMA) from The National Association of Music Merchants Foundation in cooperation with researchers at The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas. The award is based on survey results and recognizes outstanding efforts of teachers, administrators, parents, students, and community leaders who work together to assure access to music learning for all students as part of a well-rounded education.

“I am so grateful for our Eastside Bears to be recognized in the positive light of music and its empowering effects,” said Mary Moore, music teacher at the school. “I want music to become a pathway for excellence and an avenue of success for our students. My personal passion is a quality music education program that educates and meets students at their level, helps them expand their minds culturally, musically, and mathematically through impactful connections.”
